Let's discuss this picture shall we?
First of all, I dont know if I should address why he is crying first or why he is decked out in a helmet and pads....
Let's go with the crying.
For Christmas, one of the many things I put on Ryder's wishlist for the grandparents was this lovely game...
Who didnt love this game when they were kids? I knew it would be a hit, and it was........until he lost.
I explained to him that we congratulate the winner, even if we lose and we are happy for them, just like they are happy for us if we win. He wasnt buying it at first, but in true Ryder heart-of-gold fashion, he said "good job mommy, you won!" the next time he lost.
Now, about the pads.
My mom got him a 3-wheeled scooter for Christmas, and since he will be flying down the skate ramps on it at Battleground he needed to be protected. Not even so much from himself, but from the skaters that go whizzing past you at a million miles an hour and dont care that you are walking. These kids will RUN YOU OVER. Watch out.
Anyway, I knew that my safety bubba (we call him that because he is all about following the rules and being safe. Its serious stuff with him. And we started calling him Bubba in a redneck accent when he was a little baby as a joke.....and it has just stuck.) would be all about some pads and a helmet. I was right, he LOVED them. He wears them around constantly and even slept with them on Christmas night. Not with them ON, but just in his bed. You know, he's awesome.
Here is a little video of Battleground the day after Christmas. Some local skate shops donated some shoes, boards, stickers, skate wax, etc. for George to give away as prizes. Those kids were super pumped, and Ryder is in the video rocking his new pads.
Oh, and Lucy's big gift was this pink car
She's in love with it.
So yay for Christmas being over and a fresh new year coming in! Usually Im all about Christmas, but this was just not my year. I didnt even watch Elf once, I think thats what threw me off.
