Hello? - thinking about resolutions

If you are my close friend or family member, then you are very aware that I am the hardest person in the world to get in touch with.

I never ever charge my phone, its always on silent, and I am messy by nature. Do you know what this means? It means my phone dies constantly, and since I dont have organization in my blood I set it down in random places. It will sit in that random spot, dead for days until I finally find it. When I turn it back on I have a million texts that read like this:
"Are you avoiding me?"
"Are you alive?"
"Ive tried calling you several times, is everything ok?"
and sometimes a simple "you hate me" from Haley

On FB, sometimes on twitter and even on this blog I am bad about responding to comments or posts.

I see the texts, posts, comments and respond to people in my head, as if they can hear me. Then my A.D.D. kicks in and I am on to the next shiny thing that has caught my eye.
SO, my resolution for the coming year is this: to be more intentional about keeping my phone charged and responding to people at least by the end of each day.

Sometimes I think though, why do people need me to respond to them RIGHT AWAY? Cant I respond at my leisure and the world not end or people not jump to conclusions that I hate them?
Apparently not.

I will often just leave my phone at home when we go somewhere. I know that if something truly important happens people know they can get in touch with me  through George, and if they dont know that, how important can it be really?

I would be perfect to play a role in a movie of someone who throws their phone in the ocean or lake because they have had too much. Not that I have, but I have no attatchement to my phone. I would love to see how far I could throw it.
Ugh. I guess 2012 is the year for communication.Yayyyyy.

Red Velvet

It became pretty clear to me last night that I needed to have a cupcake baking session. And not just any cupcake, it had to be Red Velvet. My fav.

On date night last night George and I hit our usual stops. Old Navy (where I used my groupon! whoop!) Best Buy, Starbucks, then Target. While we were in Starbucks we ran into quite a bloggy crowd! Katie, Misty, and Susanna!

As I was deciding what I would shove into my mouth, I saw it. The little red devil. It was a TINY red velvet whoopie pie. I devoured it in like 2 bites. Was it worth my husband's $2.95? NO. But it did make me want some cupcakes!

So off we went to Target to get some necessities. You know, cake mix, icing, milk, two cans of silly string, tampons, wine, & a pink hair brush for Lucy.

Aside from the fact that I had a little taste for red velvet earlier, my friend Brittany sent me a coupon in the mail for a free box of cake mix. Hello best thing to get in the mail!

Also, I saw this post on one of my favorite blogs. She had that Cupcake wine WITH red velvet cupcakes. I mean, is that a win or what? I have seen the Cupcake wine before and thought I would love it, but since I am no wine expert I only buy what my wine loving buddies tell me to buy, and since they never recommended that brand I was to afraid to buy it. Well, after seeing that lovely post, I knew it must be delicious.

So home I went, to make my cupcakes and drink my wine and watch a little tv.

Im so glad I found these pretty wrappers.

All iced and ready to eat. Im going to have to give some of these away, or I wont make it through my front door.

I did a "rose" icing. I found a little tutorial on Pinterest back when I was planning Lucy's party. So easy!

Cupcake Wine!

And even though it was boxed cake mix, I couldnt have made it without my girls :)

I love them. Cutest measuring cups Ive ever seen :)

*The silly string: I know you are wondering. When the kids got home from hanging out with George's mom last night, we attacked them with silly string. IT WAS AWESOME. Ryder wanted to get us, but his little fingers arent strong enough to press the button. I guess it remains OUR weapon!!!!!!

A trip to C.H.O.M.

I told Ryder this morning that when Lucy and I picked him up from pre-school we would go to C.H.O.M. (Children's Hands On Museum). He was pumped!

Last year for Ryder's birthday my grandfather got us a family membership and we have had so much fun going. This place has been around for forever, I went on many a field trip to this exact place when I was in elementary school.
We went at the absolute perfect time and day apparently, because we were the only souls in there. Well, there was one little group that went into the Japanese house for 2.5 seconds, but then they left.

This boat has been here since I was little. I can remember playing on this when I was just a little older than Ryder. Its kind of weird to see my kids playing on the same things. Just like its weird that Ryder is all about some Rugrats right now. I hated Angelica.

Ryder was obsessed with trying to catch these fish. He worked at it until he got it. Im super proud of him for not giving up.....I would have, that game is frustrating!

        He finally hooked it!

  WHOOP! WHOOP!

Lucy was stopped in her tracks......

........By this guy

We played Doctor,

Looked at Turtles,

 rode in a Rocket Ship,

and we did a little ice skating!

We had an awesome time :)

Also, there is a ice cream shop being built right beside CHOM. This will be awesome during the summer, I cant wait!

My favorite Printables

Now that I have most of my gifts bought I am excited about all the free gift tags to pretty them up. Here are my 3 favorites!

Neon is popping up everywhere lately. I have always been attracted to bright colors.

These are so fun, and would be a cute addition for gifts for children.

These are probably my favorites. I used them last year and while probably print them again!
Dont just stop at using these images for gift tags though!

Here are some other ways to use them:
*print on labels instead of cardstock. I just bought some labels yesterday from here.
OR

*print them on iron on paper, and iron onto muslin bags. Stick a gift card in and you are done! This seller form Etsy has a huge assortment of muslin bags. I have ordered from them twice and both times they shipped my order within 3 hours of my purchase! They are super fast!

As excited as I am about wrapping gifts, I need to wait. If I put them under the tree this early  they will surely get ripped open by a Lucy Monster.

Gift Round Up

So yesterday I alleviated some of my stress and bought almost all of the Christmas gifts I have to buy.....from my iPad, sitting on my couch, watching 30 Rock. Isnt online shopping the best way to go? $7 for shipping? Ok. I didnt have to load my kids up in the car and deal with a double stroller. Win for me! There are still a few that are lingering, but most of those are gift cards.

Anyway, I thought I would post some gifts I think are neat in case you need some inspiration for your gift giving. Its my mini gift guide :)
*Who doesnt love a pretty little notepad to jot lists down? I would love to get this.
*I have to say, this scent is my FAVORITE of any candle I have ever had. EVER. If you dont want to take my word for it, 3 other friends of mine would say the exact same thing. You cant go wrong with this candle. Citrus burst!

* I literally just found out what this was maybe 30 minutes ago. One friend had blogged about them before, and another friend of mine just posted about them on FB. I checked out the website and its awesome. For $10 a month they send you 4-5 deluxe beauty samples. I see Nars, Stilla, and Redken right there, it looks awesome already. They have the option to gift this, and you can pick between a 3, 6, or 12 month gift subscription. Or, you could just order it for yourself and get billed monthly ;)

*There are over 100 recipes in this book, and hello, each page has scalloped edges! This is in my own wishlist.....
                  Blue Turquoise Ring. $57.
* I love this hammered band. If you're not into Turquoise, there are so many other pretty rings here.

*Creature Comforts is one of my all time favorite blogs to read. She gives you the recipe for the caramels(which is an Ina Garten recipe, I LOVE HER!), and gives you free printables to pretty up your boxes. These would make sweet teacher gifts, which is why all of Ryder's teachers will be getting some!

            Ok! That's it!

Sorry there are no gift ideas for husbands, dads, brothers, etc. I am struggling with that myself! Boys are so hard to buy for. All George ever wants is music equipment and computer programs for recording. Um, hello $500+ per item!

Is there anything you would add to my list? Do you have a great "boy" gift I should know about? Tell me! I am still on the hunt :)

Weekend run-down

We went to the Arboretum and had fun

Our awesome friend Jarrod designed George's logo

And I chipped my top front tooth on a ring pop. Sorry, no pic for that. Its pretty hideous.

It was a lovely weekend overall. Gah where is this month going though! I know its only the 5th, but its only three more weekends until Christmas! This morning a wave of stress hit me about my forever long To Do list. We have our Christmas decorations up, which includes our Christmas tree, Ryder's little tree, a little something in our entry way and an Advent Calendar. I dont go crazy with decorations. I need to confess though, our advent calendar is little muslin bags with numbers for each day and are supposed to have a few little candies for the kids. Um, I have yet to fill the bags, which means that days 1-5 havent been taken down :/ .
It is on my list of things to do today though, so tonight we can just catch up on all the days we missed!

Added to my list is getting my tooth fixed and taking care of the ticket the State Trooper gifted me. He shouldnt have. Thanks for the errand!

Are you overwhelmed with things that need to get done and gifts that need to be bought? Or do you buy throughout the year? I read somewhere that after you make your Christmas To Do list you should assign each task a specific day. Maybe I should go do that right now.
