Lets play Dress Up!

Oh how I love J.Crew, especially for my kids. Do they actually own anything from this wonderful place? No, but since a lot of their stuff is marked down online, I like to make little outfits for them. Its one of my favorite pastimes :)

For Lucy:

For Ryder:

I feel like I pretty much killed it with Ryder's outfit, so he doesnt need two. Or I might just be tired of clicking the mouse, you decide :)

I hope some of these prices drop a little more. Each item by itself isnt that pricey, but I like to buy in outfits....its one of my many faults.
Do you heart J.Crew? Do you wish they made all the kids clothes in adult sizes? I do! Or, J.Crew for grown ups needs to add a little whimsy to the collection dont you think? :) Bye friends

Goodbye Christmas!

Let's discuss this picture shall we?

First of all, I dont know if I should address why he is crying first or why he is decked out in a helmet and pads....
Let's go with the crying.

For Christmas, one of the many things I put on Ryder's wishlist for the grandparents was this lovely game...
Who didnt love this game when they were kids? I knew it would be a hit, and it was........until he lost.

I explained to him that we congratulate the winner, even if we lose and we are happy for them, just like they are happy for us if we win. He wasnt buying it at first, but in true Ryder heart-of-gold fashion, he said "good job mommy, you won!" the next time he lost.
Now, about the pads.

My mom got him a 3-wheeled scooter for Christmas, and since he will be flying down the skate ramps on it at Battleground  he needed to be protected. Not even so much from himself, but from the skaters that go whizzing past you at a million miles an hour and dont care that you are walking. These kids will RUN YOU OVER. Watch out.

Anyway, I knew that my safety bubba (we call him that because he is all about following the rules and being safe. Its serious stuff with him. And we started calling him Bubba in a redneck accent when he was a little baby as a joke.....and it has just stuck.) would be all about some pads and a helmet. I was right, he LOVED them. He wears them around constantly and even slept with them on Christmas night. Not with them ON, but just in his bed. You know, he's awesome.
Here is a little video of Battleground the day after Christmas. Some local skate shops donated some shoes, boards, stickers, skate wax, etc. for George to give away as prizes. Those kids were super pumped, and Ryder is in the video rocking his new pads.

Oh, and Lucy's big gift was this pink car
She's in love with it.

So yay for Christmas being over and a fresh new year coming in! Usually Im all about Christmas, but this was just not my year. I didnt even watch Elf once, I think thats what threw me off.

Weekend run-down

This past week has been crazy busy. Fun with friends, Christmas parties, George's crazy work schedule and me fitting in time for a date with my sweet friend to do some last minute Christmas shopping. As much as I LOVE having fun things to do and am so very thankful for a full life, I am about ready to pass out.

This week is the last week of the crazies. I have been so stressed out trying to bake things, wrap gifts, and do all the things everyone is doing this time of year I have COMPLETELY neglected my house and laundry. The house being messy isnt  out of the norm for me, but the laundry is. Thats the one thing I love to do, and if we are having to hunt through the dryer for a match to a random sock, you know I have been a slacker :/

After this week I plan to get focused and ready for the new year.
So, on to my weekend pics!

Saturday while Lucy was taking a nap and George was working Ryder and I decorated our gingerbread house

I just slathered icing everywhere and let him stick the candy wherever he wanted.

Oh yea, we also ate eggs and blew bubbles in milk :)

The finished product! Ryder kept saying "My daddy's might love it!" He was so proud. Of course George loved it, its the bomb.com!

Sunday morning after church, George, Lucy, and Ryder put on a concert.......for me haha! It was a short performance but one of the best Ive ever seen!

Oh, and I totally forgot to brag on the husband when he did this, (ooops :/) but about a month ago he did a sermon on Passion. Go here to have a listen! Just find George's name and click on it.

A couple of weeks ago my Mother-in-Law bought us a family membership to the Birmingham Zoo! Best present ever! Last night we went to Zoolight Safari with some friends. It was awesome! But I must say, if you dont pay to ride the train, it wont be that much fun. The only animals we got to see were in the barn. Pigs, goats, chickens....... -_-............... The lights were super pretty!

On the train!

Ryder and Thatcher

 The Zoo all lit up!

Sheep!

Lucy chilled in the stroller......for about 2.5 seconds. The rest of the time we were pushing around an empty double stroller. We should have brought the wagon.

Showing off my skills holding both of them at the same time.
Ryder looks so freaking thrilled. He was quite the whine monster last night.

That was our weekend! Hopefully I can get it together and get organized after Christmas. But there comes a point when I look around and just feel defeated. How do you make yourself snap out of it? I sure need some suggestions!

Friday Flashback!

WHOA. Look at those two babies holding a baby. One of these adults looks to have aged by 10 years instead of just 4. I wont say which one.........but do I really need to??

Ryder's 4th birthday is next month. January 18th to be exact! To me four is the year you are for sure not a baby anymore. You are a kid. Sometimes I want him to go back to that little butterball he used to be. But then I remember how fussy he was then, and how easy going he is now ;)

I will tell you one thing though

I really do wish we could go back to when those couches were sparkling clean. Oh! Light suede, sippy cups, and two kids are NOT a match made in heaven!

Etsy Love

I think it's time to share some of my favorite finds on Etsy.

These labels from love mae store
are so cute. $60. If you send them a pic of their labels in use, they will make up to 3 more custom labels for you.

Apple Cider Mulling Spices from Graham and Olive. $10 for two bags.

These ship within two days, so if you are still looking for something to fill that mug you bought as gift, these would be great!

Pecan Pie Caramel Lollipops from Have it Sweet. $9 for six. They sound amazing.
For $50 you can join the lollipop of the month club and recieve six new suckers a month. Sounds like Ive already found my birthday present.

Prints from The Wheatfield. $15. I often dream of how I will decorate Lucy's room when we get a new house. Something from this shop will for sure be hanging on her wall.

Signs from Ace Avenue. $25 & $42. My friend Rachel makes these lovely signs. I have one of the Alabama ones hanging in our living room and I love it so much.

That's all. Hope you all are having a great day! I am heading to the pediatrician for Lucy's 15 month check up and Ryder's horrific cough. I've got snacks packed and the iPad charged, so we should be good :)

Hello? - thinking about resolutions

If you are my close friend or family member, then you are very aware that I am the hardest person in the world to get in touch with.

I never ever charge my phone, its always on silent, and I am messy by nature. Do you know what this means? It means my phone dies constantly, and since I dont have organization in my blood I set it down in random places. It will sit in that random spot, dead for days until I finally find it. When I turn it back on I have a million texts that read like this:
"Are you avoiding me?"
"Are you alive?"
"Ive tried calling you several times, is everything ok?"
and sometimes a simple "you hate me" from Haley

On FB, sometimes on twitter and even on this blog I am bad about responding to comments or posts.

I see the texts, posts, comments and respond to people in my head, as if they can hear me. Then my A.D.D. kicks in and I am on to the next shiny thing that has caught my eye.
SO, my resolution for the coming year is this: to be more intentional about keeping my phone charged and responding to people at least by the end of each day.

Sometimes I think though, why do people need me to respond to them RIGHT AWAY? Cant I respond at my leisure and the world not end or people not jump to conclusions that I hate them?
Apparently not.

I will often just leave my phone at home when we go somewhere. I know that if something truly important happens people know they can get in touch with me  through George, and if they dont know that, how important can it be really?

I would be perfect to play a role in a movie of someone who throws their phone in the ocean or lake because they have had too much. Not that I have, but I have no attatchement to my phone. I would love to see how far I could throw it.
Ugh. I guess 2012 is the year for communication.Yayyyyy.
